Great scheme that's wanted by the community, just too expensive
We've just ordered a second box as the first box filled up incredibly quickly. There's definitely a need/want within the community for these to be recycled, it's just such a shame that no big company is sponsoring this project so that a charity like ourselves doesn't have to fundraise to purchase each time.
Costly...but not costing the earth
Easy to order, easy to return. Our community love being able to recycle the blister packs. We are sorry that it is some what costly to do, as it seems such an important aspect of recycling and preventing unnecessary landfill, especially for older people on many medications. If the cost was lower it would definitely be 5 stars.
Fantastic scheme, just too expensive
As a charity, our Community Centre wanted to provide this as a service so fundraised for the largest box. Thankfully, we were able to reduce the cost with a discount code for World Global Recycling Day. Everyone is really happy having this box alongside our other schemes we've chosen from Terracycle. Such a shame we can't keep the expensive box to refill and send the blister packs to Terracycle in our own boxes. Truly hope we can raise more money for another box once filled. There's a real want/need in the local community to save these from landfill so hope another national company like Superdrug come forward to sponsor the program again.
The Solution We'd Been Looking For
All of our local locations for recycling medicine blister packs either closed or were no longer accepting them. So we had been collecting hundreds of them, waiting to figure out what to do as we were NOT going to put them in the landfill bin. I was thrilled when I found Terracycle and saw that they had just the solution we needed. We ordered a box. It came quickly and was easy to assemble. And have been filling it up ever since. Also letting neighbors know that we'd be happy to collect their blister packs. I imagine it will be a few months before it's full and ready to send back. But we have been very happy up to this point.
Only recently ordered this as a trial but had already accumulated many blister packs as my oartner and my brother both take daily medication. I find the box much tidier than collecting ina bag at home but have not experienced returning it yet. However I do agree that the cost is expensive no matter how committed one is to recycling and I am not sure I can afford payment at this level going forward. I think many more people would join if the cost was less but also feel our government doesn’t take the issue seriously and provide funding.
